Is Therapy covered by health insurance?

Therapy is covered by health insurance!

Clients are often reimbursed between 50% to 90% of my fees

How do I use my insurance?

First, you provide me with a credit card to keep on file and charge after each session. Next, I will provide you with a monthly statement, or ‘superbill,’ on the 1st of each month. Following this, you can then submit these statements directly to your insurance company right here:

After you submit these statements your insurance will reimburse you for a portion of what you paid for my services

If this is your first time filing an insurance claim after paying a healthcare provider directly, rest assured that the process is very simple – plus, you’ll have me in your corner.

I’ve helped patients get fair and accurate reimbursement for psychotherapy from a wide variety of insurance carriers.

Why don’t you take insurance directly?

As is the case with many experienced therapists, I have made a deliberate decision not to participate in any managed care programs. This allows me the ability to work privately for you, the client, and not the insurance company.

Many clients prefer to work with a therapist outside of their insurance plans for a variety of reasons, some of which include:

  • A much greater degree of privacy and confidentiality, as I am not required to share a great deal of your personal information with insurance companies.
  • Not being limited to a certain number of sessions, or a certain type of treatment, that is determined by the insurance companies in order to control their costs.
  • No need for a psychiatric diagnosis, which “in-network” therapists need to give to you to get paid by insurance companies. Having a diagnosis as part of your medical record can potentially impede your future ability to gain benefits such as acquiring insurance and/or employment opportunities.

What’s your fee for psychotherapy?

Unlike many practices, I feel that transparency about my fee is crucial. I do not believe that you should need to message me or book a consultation call in order to know what therapy with me will cost. I don’t want your investment in therapy to feel like a “bait-and-switch”, and I feel that stating my fee plainly is a good precedent to set. This all being said…

My fee for individual therapy is $250, and for couples counseling my fee is $300.

I Know That Therapy Isn’t Cheap

I am mindful that therapy can be a significant investment, and I highly regard the time, energy, focus, and money you devote to therapy with me. Out of respect for you and your commitment, I vow to take our work seriously and hold myself to the highest standard in order to provide the best possible care. Many of my previous clients will attest that they have found the investment worthwhile. Click here to see their endorcements!
